Before requesting an appointment, ask your insurer about network status, copays or deductibles, referral or prior authorization requirements, and coverage for the service and visit format you need.

However, coverage can differ even when a plan appears among Westfield’s accepted insurance plans. For example, ask your insurer to verify that Westfield Behavioral Health and the individual clinician are in network for the visit you need. In addition, confirm whether benefits differ for in-person and telehealth appointments, and whether a referral, authorization, deductible, copay, or coinsurance applies.

For Medicare coverage rules, review Medicare’s outpatient mental health coverage. Other plan members can use the phone number or member portal on their insurance card. Westfield can confirm current participation, but your insurer determines benefits and payment responsibility.

Before scheduling, write down the representative’s name, date, reference number, and what was confirmed. If the plan requires a referral or prior authorization, ask who must submit it and when.
